Cryogenic Long Stem Globe Valve – Extended Bonnet for Ultra-Low Temperatures

Cryogenic long stem globe valves feature extended bonnets up to 400mm length, positioning the packing gland far above cryogenic temperatures to prevent ice formation and maintain operability in LNG service to -196°C. The elongated stem design creates thermal gradient ensuring packing zone remains above 0°C under steady-state operation, eliminating atmospheric moisture condensation that destroys conventional valve stems in liquefied natural gas, liquid nitrogen, and industrial gas applications across African LNG terminals and gas processing facilities.

Extended bonnet length calculations per BS 6364 account for ambient temperature, insulation thickness, and process temperature to ensure packing remains in operable temperature range. Nigerian LNG export terminals, Mozambique gas liquefaction plants, and South African industrial gas facilities depend on properly designed long stem valves for reliable cryogenic service where stem icing causes operational failures and safety hazards.
