Industrial pipeline and process systems often require isolation valves that can be operated remotely and connected to plant automation systems. African Valve, an Electric Actuated Gate Valve Supplier in Nigeria, supplies electric actuated gate valves that combine the isolation function of a gate valve with motorized operation.

The electric actuator can be configured with local controls, position indication, limit switches and PLC, DCS or SCADA integration according to the application.

Engineering Design & Operation

A gate valve controls flow by moving a gate or wedge vertically into and out of the flow passage. When fully open, the gate is lifted clear of the flow path, providing a relatively unobstructed passage. When closed, the gate engages the seats and isolates the pipeline.

The electric actuator converts motor rotation into the torque and thrust required to operate the valve. Limit switches can identify the open and closed positions, while torque protection helps prevent excessive actuator loading.

Depending on the design, the valve can be supplied with solid wedge, flexible wedge or parallel-slide gate configurations, with rising-stem construction commonly used for this type of automated gate valve.
