Forged Cryogenic Trunnion Ball Valves combine three critical design elements for demanding cryogenic service: forged steel bodies for maximum strength and impact resistance, trunnion-mounted ball for low operating torque in large sizes, and cryogenic-specific features (extended bonnet, impact-tested materials) for -196°C operation. The forged construction provides superior grain structure and eliminates casting defects that can propagate under thermal cycling between ambient and cryogenic temperatures. Trunnion mounting enables larger sizes (DN 50-300) with reasonable actuator torque requirements. Extended bonnets keep packing above freezing while special seats (metal or PEEK) maintain sealing at liquid nitrogen temperatures.
