How Does Forged Steel Gate Valve Work?

The gate valve gets its name from the gate-like disc or wedge-shaped closure element that moves up and down within the valve body to control the flow. When the valve is in the open position, the gate is lifted or moved out of the fluid flow path, allowing fluid to pass through the valve and the gate is lifted, allowing unrestricted flow, and when it is fully closed.
