Forged steel swing check valves deliver superior strength and pressure capability for African oil & gas high-pressure service including offshore injection wells (Class 1500-2500), sour gas gathering (NACE MR0175), and supercritical steam systems where cast valve bodies cannot meet structural or material requirements. Forged construction—where the valve body is machined from solid forged bar stock rather than cast—provides finer grain structure, freedom from casting porosity, and enhanced mechanical properties critical for applications above ANSI Class 900 or services requiring NACE compliance.

Forged vs. Cast Swing Check Valves

Specify Forged Steel When: (1) Pressure Class 900-2500 (cast alternatives limited to Class 600), (2) NACE MR0175 sour service (forged materials provide certified compliance), (3) Cryogenic or low-temperature service requiring Charpy impact testing, (4) Offshore DNV, Lloyd’s, or ABS certification requiring material traceability, (5) Small sizes DN 15-100 (1/2″-4″) in high-pressure service—forged more economical than cast in compact sizes.

Specify Cast Steel When: (1) Pressure Class 150-600 (cast adequate and more economical), (2) Sizes DN 150+ (6″+) where forged cost premium becomes prohibitive, (3) Standard services without special material requirements—cast WCB, CF8M widely available in African markets.
