Key Features & Applications

Duplex High Pressure Ball Valve Manufacturer in Africa

High-pressure produced water, chemical injection and offshore utility lines place heavy loads on the body, seats and stem. Duplex stainless steel combines high mechanical strength with better resistance to chloride attack than common austenitic grades, making it useful where both pressure and corrosion must be managed. African Valve is a leading Duplex High Pressure Ball Valve Manufacturer  in Africa, supplying South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Angola, wider African markets and international projects.

High-Pressure Ball Valve Construction

The valve may use a floating ball in smaller sizes or a trunnion-supported ball where pressure, diameter and operating torque are higher. In a floating design, line pressure moves the ball toward the downstream seat. In a trunnion design, the ball is supported while spring-energised seats move toward it.

Body construction can be two-piece, three-piece, side-entry or top-entry. The selected arrangement depends on pressure class, maintenance access, pipeline layout and the required end connections.

Duplex Material Selection

Forged pressure parts are commonly specified in ASTM A182 F51, while cast bodies may use ASTM A995 Grade 4A. Higher-strength duplex material can support compact pressure-containing parts, but pressure-temperature ratings must still follow the applicable design standard. ASTM A182 covers forged valves and parts, while ASTM A995 covers duplex castings for pressure-containing components.

The ball, stem, trunnions, seat retainers and exposed springs should use compatible duplex or corrosion-resistant materials. Heat treatment, ferrite balance and machining condition are important because the correct grade alone does not guarantee performance.

Seat, Stem and Cavity Protection

PEEK, RPTFE and other engineered seats may be used where pressure exceeds the practical range of standard PTFE. Metal seats are considered for elevated temperature, abrasive solids or severe cycling.

Depending on the design, the stem may be inserted from inside the body to resist pressure-driven ejection. Anti-static continuity, fire-tested construction and cavity-pressure relief may be included. Trunnion designs can also use double-block-and-bleed arrangements when the exact seat configuration supports it.

Pressure and Torque Considerations

Actuator sizing should use maximum differential pressure, seat friction, temperature and expected deposits. High pressure can increase seat load substantially, especially in a floating design.

Trapped body-cavity pressure may rise when the fluid heats after isolation. A documented relief path should be specified where thermal expansion is possible. Full-bore construction may be preferred where pressure loss, pigging or line cleaning matters.

Applications

Duplex high-pressure ball valves are used in chemical injection, produced-water systems, offshore utilities, desalination high-pressure circuits and selected oil and gas process lines. Sour service may require NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 review in addition to the duplex grade.

Manufacturing and Inspection

Forging or casting records, MTCs, PMI and ferrite checks establish material control. NDT, dimensional inspection, hydrostatic shell testing, seat testing and actuator functional tests are performed according to the project specification.

High-Pressure Valve Supply

African Valve supplies duplex high-pressure ball valves for demanding projects across Africa. The RFQ should include fluid chemistry, chlorides, pressure, temperature, ball support design, seat material, end connections, cavity-relief requirement and actuation.
