Key Features & Applications
Duplex Top Entry Ball Valve Manufacturer in Africa
Critical process lines sometimes need internal access without removing the complete valve body from the pipeline. A top-entry ball valve allows the ball, seats and stem components to be reached through the cover while duplex stainless steel provides strength and resistance to chloride attack. African Valve is a leading Duplex Top Entry Ball Valve Manufacturer in Africa, supplying South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Angola, other African markets and international projects.
Top-Entry Maintenance Access
The valve body remains as a single pressure-containing section in the pipeline, while the upper cover provides access to the internal parts. During planned maintenance, the ball and seats can be removed through the top opening after the line has been isolated and depressurised.
This arrangement is useful in large pipelines, offshore modules and locations where removing flanged or butt-weld valve bodies would require extensive pipework disturbance.
Ball Support and Sealing
Top-entry valves may use a floating ball in smaller sizes or a trunnion-supported ball where size and pressure increase. In a trunnion design, the ball is held by bearings while spring-energised seats move toward it.
Soft seats may use PTFE, RPTFE or PEEK. Metal seating is considered for higher temperature, abrasive media or frequent cycling. Optional arrangements include cavity-pressure relief, anti-static continuity, fire-tested construction and emergency sealant injection.
Duplex Body and Trim
Cast bodies may be produced in ASTM A995 Grade 4A, while forged internal parts may use ASTM A182 F51 or another compatible duplex grade. The body, cover, ball, stem, trunnions, seat retainers and exposed springs should be treated as one material system. ASTM A995 covers duplex pressure-containing castings, while ASTM A182 covers forged valves and parts.
Heat treatment, ferrite balance and welding practice affect both strength and corrosion resistance. For severe warm seawater or high-salinity brine, Super Duplex may provide a better margin.
Size Range: DN50 to DN900 Pressure Ratings: ASME Class 150 to Class 1500 Design Standards: API 6D, API 608 and ASME B16.34 as applicable Testing Standard: API 6D or API 598 End Connections: Flanged RF, RTJ or butt weld Operation: Gearbox, pneumatic actuator, hydraulic actuator or electric actuator Body Materials: ASTM A995 Grade 4A or ASTM A182 F51 Body Construction: Top entry Ball Design: Floating or trunnion mounted according to size and pressure Seat Options: PTFE, RPTFE, PEEK or metal seat Bore Type: Full bore or reduced bore When the valve is closed, fluid may be trapped in the body cavity. If that fluid heats, pressure can rise above line pressure. A documented cavity-relief path should therefore be provided where thermal expansion is possible. Double-block-and-bleed performance depends on the exact seat design and should be verified from the valve arrangement rather than assumed from the top-entry construction. Duplex top-entry ball valves are used in produced-water systems, offshore utilities, desalination plants, chemical transfer lines and selected oil and gas pipelines. The design suits locations where in-line maintenance access is valuable. MTC review, PMI and ferrite measurement verify the pressure parts and trim. NDT may be required for the body, cover or welds. Dimensional checks confirm cover fit, ball alignment and end connections. Shell, seat, cavity-relief and actuator tests are carried out according to the project specification. The top cover, gasket and bolting also need enough clearance for future lifting and maintenance. African Valve supplies duplex top-entry ball valves for critical projects across Africa. The enquiry should include fluid chemistry, pressure, temperature, ball support design, seat material, bore, end connections, maintenance access and actuation.Technical Specifications
