Engineering Design & Operation

The valve uses a disc, seat and stem arrangement to regulate the flow. As the handwheel is turned, the stem moves the disc toward or away from the seat. This allows the valve to be positioned between fully open and fully closed when throttling is required.

BS globe valves may be supplied with rising stems, OS&Y construction and flanged, butt-weld or socket-weld ends depending on the design.
