Why Is a Bi Directional Knife Gate Valve Used in Slurry Applications?

The two-way knife gate valve is constructed in such a way that it can seal the valve in either direction of the flow. Once compressed air is introduced into the pneumatic operator, the gate moves up or down depending on whether it is supposed to open or close the flow passage. During the movement of the sharp edge gate in the media, it cuts through suspended solids and slurry and then closes against the flexible seats on both ends of the valve.

Valve Construction

The valve comprises of a robust body, knife gate made up of stainless steel, stem, bi-directional resilient seat assembly, gland packing, yoke, and a pneumatic actuator. The actuator may either be in a double-acting form or in a spring return form and comes with solenoid valves, air filter regulator, limit switches, and position sensors.
