A pneumatic actuator uses compressed air to operate the gate valve, allowing remote opening and closing without manual handwheel operation. Double-acting and spring-return actuator arrangements can be selected according to the required control and fail position.
Engineering Design & Operation
The gate moves linearly between the seats to isolate the pipeline. Gate valves are primarily intended for isolation in fully open or fully closed positions rather than continuous throttling. Pneumatic actuation can provide remote and rapid operation.
Double-acting actuators use air for both opening and closing. Spring-return designs use compressed air for one direction and springs for the other.
