Key Features & Applications
Hastelloy C276/B3 Swing Check Valve Manufacturer in Africa
Steady chemical transfer lines often use a swing check valve because its internal arrangement is simple and can be inspected through the body cover. African Valve is a leading Hastelloy C276/B3 Swing Check Valve Manufacturer in Africa, supplying South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Angola, other African countries and international project locations.
Swing Disc Working Principle
Forward flow lifts the hinged disc away from the seat. As velocity falls, gravity and reverse pressure return the disc toward the closed position. When the valve is fully open, the disc moves largely away from the main flow path. The longer disc travel makes the design suitable for stable flow conditions. During rapid pump shutdown, reverse velocity may develop before the disc reaches the seat, causing impact or valve slam. Pump behaviour should therefore be reviewed during selection.
Material Construction
C276 is considered for broad mixed chemical and chloride-bearing media. B3 is used mainly in reducing-acid environments and should be checked carefully for oxygen or oxidising contaminants. The body, cover, disc, hinge arm, pin and seat should use the selected Hastelloy grade or a compatible alloy. Lower-alloy hinge parts can become hidden corrosion points inside the valve.Metal seats suit higher temperature and chemical severity. Resilient or PTFE seats can provide tighter shutoff where the media is clean and within the seat’s pressure-temperature limit.
Size Range: DN15 to DN600 Pressure Ratings: ASME Class 150 to Class 1500 Design Standards: API 594 and ASME B16.34 where applicable Testing Standard: API 598 End Connections: Flanged RF, RTJ or butt weld Operation: Automatic, flow actuated Body Materials: Hastelloy C276 or Hastelloy B3 Disc Design: Hinged swing disc Cover Design: Bolted or pressure seal Seat Options: Metal or resilient seat Installation: Horizontal or vertical upward flow when approved Bolted-cover construction provides access to the disc, hinge and seat without cutting the valve body. Enough clearance should be left above the cover for maintenance. Horizontal installation is common. Vertical upward installation may be possible where the disc remains stable. The valve should not be installed in downward vertical flow unless specifically designed for that orientation. C276 swing check valves are used in mixed-acid transfer, chlorine-bearing lines, scrubber systems and chemical wastewater service. B3 versions suit selected reducing-acid duties after the full chemistry has been reviewed. Material Test Certificates and PMI verify the body, cover, disc and hinge components. Dimensional inspection confirms end connections and disc clearance. Shell testing checks pressure containment, while seat testing confirms reverse-flow shutoff. Disc movement is checked through the full travel. African Valve supplies C276 and B3 swing check valves for chemical and industrial installations across Africa. The enquiry should state fluid composition, velocity, pressure, temperature, orientation, seat requirement and pump shutdown conditions.Technical Specifications
