Key Features & Applications
Hastelloy C276/B3 Dual Plate Wafer Check Valve Manufacturer in Africa
Compact chemical piping often leaves little room for a full-bodied swing check valve. A wafer dual plate design provides automatic reverse-flow protection with a short installation length. African Valve is a prominent Hastelloy C276/B3 Dual Plate Wafer Check Valve Manufacturer in Africa, serving South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Angola and other African and international markets.
Wafer Body Construction
The valve is installed between two pipeline flanges and held by through-bolts. Accurate centring is important because poor alignment can cause uneven flange loading or restrict plate movement.
Inside the body, two spring-assisted plates rotate around a central hinge. Forward flow opens the plates, while the springs start closing them as velocity decreases. Shorter travel may reduce reverse velocity before closure, although complete water-hammer performance depends on the entire piping system.
Alloy and Seat Selection
Hastelloy C276 is used for many mixed chemical, chloride and pollution-control services. Hastelloy B3 is mainly considered for reducing acids where oxidising contaminants have been assessed.
The body, plates, springs, hinge pin and retainers should be supplied in the selected grade or an approved compatible material. A lower-alloy spring inside a high-alloy body can fail before the pressure-containing parts show visible corrosion.
Metal seats are chosen for temperature, abrasion or severe chemical exposure. PTFE or resilient seats may provide tighter shutoff in clean fluids. The spring and seat arrangement determines cracking pressure and influences the pressure-loss curve.
Size Range: DN50 to DN1200 Pressure Ratings: ASME Class 150 to Class 600 Design Standards: API 594 and ASME B16.34 where applicable Testing Standard: API 598 End Connections: Wafer, installed between mating flanges Operation: Automatic, flow actuated Body Materials: Hastelloy C276 or Hastelloy B3 Plate Design: Dual spring-assisted plates Seat Options: Metal, PTFE or resilient seat Installation: Horizontal or vertical upward flow when approved The valve should be selected from the normal and minimum flow rate. An oversized valve may operate with partly open plates, increasing vibration and wear. Manufacturer flow data should be used to check pressure drop and stable plate position. For vertical upward flow, spring torque and plate balance must be suitable for the installation orientation. Downward vertical flow is not recommended unless the design has been specifically qualified. Typical duties include acid circulation, chemical-transfer pumps, offshore chemical injection, scrubber systems and corrosive wastewater handling. The short body is useful on skids and tightly arranged pipework. Material traceability and PMI confirm the alloy of the pressure parts and internals. Inspection includes flange-clearance checks, plate travel, spring function, shell pressure and seat leakage. The valve is also checked for smooth movement without plate interference. African Valve supplies Hastelloy C276 and B3 dual plate wafer check valves across Africa. The enquiry should identify flow rate, minimum velocity, pressure, temperature, orientation, flange standard, required cracking pressure and seat material.Technical Specifications
