Jacketed Ball Valve
High Performance • Durable • Leak Proof
SKU: JBV-BW-044
Steam or thermal fluid jacketed ball valve for temperature-sensitive applications requiring heated valve body.
Industrial processes handling viscous, temperature-sensitive or easily solidifying media often need more than a standard isolation valve. African Valve, a Jacketed Ball Valve Supplier in Egypt, supplies jacketed ball valves designed with an external jacket around the valve body. Heating or cooling media such as steam, hot oil or thermal fluid can circulate through the jacket to help maintain the required temperature of the valve and process medium.
Where Are Jacketed Ball Valves Used?
Jacketed ball valves are selected when a process medium may become too viscous, crystallize or solidify if its temperature falls below the required operating range. They are commonly used in bitumen and asphalt handling, sulphur processing, chemical processing, petrochemical plants, resin and polymer production, wax handling and heavy-oil systems.
The heating or cooling medium is selected according to the process conditions. Steam and thermal oil are common choices, while other suitable heat-transfer media can be specified for particular applications.
Engineering Design & Operation
A jacketed ball valve works like a conventional quarter-turn ball valve. The ball rotates through 90 degrees to open or close the process flow. When the ball bore aligns with the pipeline, the valve is open; rotating the ball moves the solid section into the flow path and isolates the line.
The external jacket surrounds part or most of the valve body. Circulating heating or cooling fluid through the jacket helps transfer heat to or away from the valve body, helping keep the process medium within its required temperature range.
Depending on the design, jacketed ball valves may be supplied with full or reduced bore, soft or metal seats, manual operation or pneumatic/electric actuation. Full and partial jacket configurations are also available.
