Key Features & Applications
Compact isolation valves installed on seawater and marine utility lines must close quickly without developing excessive pressure loss. An Aluminium Bronze Floating Ball Valve uses a freely supported ball and two resilient seats to provide quarter-turn shutoff. When the valve closes, line pressure moves the ball toward the downstream seat and strengthens the seal. African Valve is a prominent Aluminium Bronze Floating Ball Valve Manufacturer in Africa, serving Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana and supplying projects in the Middle East, Europe and other international regions. The ball is held between two seats but is not fixed by trunnion bearings. Under differential pressure, it shifts slightly in the downstream direction. This movement presses the ball against the downstream seat and creates the contact required for closure. Pressure-assisted sealing is effective in small and medium valve sizes, but seat load and operating torque rise as the diameter and pressure increase. For this reason, large-bore or high-pressure pipelines normally use a trunnion-mounted ball valve rather than simply increasing the size of a floating design. A full-bore valve has a ball opening close to the internal diameter of the connected pipe. The larger passage limits turbulence and pressure loss and may permit line-cleaning equipment to pass when the complete pipeline is designed for pigging. Reduced-bore construction uses a smaller opening through the ball. It is more compact and usually needs less operating torque, although the restriction creates additional velocity and pressure drop. Bore selection should be based on hydraulic calculations, not only the nominal pipe size. ASTM B148 C95800 and C95500 are commonly used cast aluminium bronze grades for valve bodies and end connectors. Their nickel and aluminium content supports resistance to seawater corrosion, cavitation and erosion. The protective surface film performs best when the alloy is correctly manufactured and exposed to service conditions within its qualified velocity range. The ball, stem, gland components and bolting require separate review. Stainless steel internals may be used in some configurations, but galvanic compatibility must be checked wherever dissimilar metals remain wet in seawater. PTFE or reinforced PTFE seats are common for clean marine water. PEEK may be considered for higher pressure or temperature. Metal seating is available for abrasive duty or frequent cycling, although it normally produces a different leakage performance from a soft-seated valve. The stem may be inserted from inside the body, preventing internal pressure from pushing it outward. Anti-static devices can maintain continuity between the stem, ball and body where electrical charge accumulation is a concern. Manual levers are suitable for smaller sizes. Gearboxes reduce hand force on larger valves, while pneumatic and electric actuators support remote operation. ISO 5211 mounting dimensions simplify actuator selection when provided by the valve design. Size Range: DN15 to DN250 Quarter-turn travel enables rapid isolation. Line pressure reinforces downstream seat contact. Aluminium bronze construction suits marine and chloride-bearing water. Full-bore options limit flow restriction. Blow-out-resistant stem arrangements improve containment. Fire-safe designs may be supplied when qualified to API 607. This valve is used in seawater cooling, ballast water, desalination, offshore utility lines, shipboard systems and firewater networks. African Valve can configure the bore, seat compound, body pattern and actuator after reviewing pressure, temperature, fluid velocity and operating frequency. Test certificates, MTCs and inspection records can be included with the supply package.Aluminium Bronze Floating Ball Valve Manufacturer in Africa
