Key Features & Applications
Hastelloy C276/B3 Wafer Butterfly Valve Manufacturer in Africa
Corrosive pipelines with limited space often use a wafer butterfly valve because it fits between existing flanges without a full flanged body. The compact design lowers installed weight while retaining quarter-turn operation. African Valve is a prominent Hastelloy C276/B3 Wafer Butterfly Valve Manufacturer in Africa, supplying South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Angola and other African and export markets.
Wafer Body and Disc Movement
The valve body is centred between two mating flanges and retained with through-bolts. The disc rotates through 90 degrees to open or close the line.
Accurate centring is essential. Poor alignment can cause the disc to contact the pipe bore, compress the seat unevenly or increase actuator torque.
Material and Sealing Arrangement
C276 suits many mixed chemical and chloride-bearing services. B3 is considered mainly for reducing acids where oxidising contaminants have been reviewed.
The body, disc, shaft and retainers should be selected as a complete corrosion-resistant system. Depending on the service, the valve may use a concentric resilient seat, double-offset high-performance seat or triple-offset metal seat.
Soft seats provide lower leakage in clean moderate-temperature service. Metal seats handle higher temperature, abrasive media and frequent cycling, although allowable leakage may differ.

Installation Considerations
Flange inside diameter and pipe bore must provide enough clearance for the disc. The gasket arrangement should follow the manufacturer’s instructions because some seat designs form the flange seal directly.
The valve is normally used where both pipeline flanges remain connected during maintenance. It should not be assumed suitable for retaining pressure with one side removed.
Applications
The valve is considered for chemical transfer, acid circulation, offshore processes, scrubber systems and pollution-control lines where low weight and compact installation are important.
Inspection and Testing
Material certificates and PMI verify the body, disc and shaft. Dimensional checks confirm body centring features, face-to-face length and disc clearance. Hydrostatic shell and seat tests verify pressure containment and leakage, followed by operating-torque checks.
