Key Features & Applications
Chloride-bearing water, produced-water systems and marine process lines often need a ball valve with higher strength and better resistance to localised corrosion than standard stainless steel. The product name is commonly listed as F51 Super Duplex Ball Valve, although ASTM A182 F51 is technically a duplex grade rather than a super duplex grade. African Valve is a prominent F51 Super Duplex Ball Valve Manufacturer in Africa, supplying South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Angola, other African countries and selected export markets. ASTM A182 F51 is a duplex grade stainless steel UNS S31803. With its dual structure that consists of both ferrite and austenite, it has a higher strength compared to regular stainless steel of the 300 series and better corrosion resistance to chloride pitting and stress corrosion. The use of F51 is typical for forging valve bodies and stems in corrosive environments such as salt water, chemicals, and oilfields.F51 can not be considered similar to F53 or F55. Both materials are super duplex stainless steels and have a higher corrosion allowance in harsh marine warm water, highly concentrated brine, and chlorides. The ball rotates 90 degrees for opening and closing. Port alignment with the pipe causes flow through the valve, while ball rotation perpendicular to the bore isolates the valve through the seats. In full bore valves, the opening is closer to the pipe bore, whereas, in reduced bore valves, the body is smaller due to lower flow area requirement. Depending upon the size and pressure of the valve, it can either have floating or trunnion mounted ball design. The body may be forged from ASTM A182 F51, while the ball, stem, seat retainers and gland parts should use compatible duplex grades or another qualified corrosion-resistant material. Specifying only the body grade can leave lower-alloy internals exposed to the same fluid. ASTM A182 covers forged valves and associated pressure-containing components.PTFE and RPTFE seats suit many clean water, chemical and hydrocarbon duties. PEEK may be selected where higher pressure or temperature demands greater mechanical strength. Metal seats are considered for abrasive particles, severe temperatures or frequent cycling. Depending on the design, optional features include a blowout-resistant stem, anti-static continuity, cavity-pressure relief, fire-tested construction and ISO 5211 actuator mounting. Size Range: DN15 to DN300 Pressure Ratings: ASME Class 150 to Class 900 Design Standards: API 608, ISO 17292 and ASME B16.34 Testing Standard: API 598 End Connections: Flanged RF/RTJ, threaded, socket weld or butt weld Operation: Lever, gearbox, pneumatic actuator or electric actuator Body Material: ASTM A182 F51 / UNS S31803 Ball Design: Floating or trunnion mounted according to size and pressure Bore Type: Full bore or reduced bore Seat Options: PTFE, RPTFE, PEEK or metal seat API 608 covers metal ball valves with flanged, threaded and welding ends, while ASME B16.34 addresses pressure-temperature ratings, materials, examination, testing and marking for applicable designs. Duplex construction gives an important advantage of strength and corrosion resistance when used for produced water, desalination support equipment, marine utility piping, and chemical injection piping. The alloy F51 is less likely to suffer from chloride stress-corrosion cracking than traditional austenitic grades; however, it does not suit all seawater applications. Material Test Certificates are checked against body and trim heat numbers. PMI may be performed on the body, ball and stem, while ferrite measurement, heat-treatment review and NDT can be included where specified. Hydrostatic shell and seat-leakage testing confirm pressure containment and shutoff. African Valve supplies F51 ball valves for marine, water, chemical and process installations across Africa. The enquiry should include fluid composition, chloride level, pressure, temperature, bore, seat material, end connection, actuator and inspection requirements.Super Duplex 3 Piece Ball Valve Manufacturer in Africa
