Key Features & Applications
Aluminium Bronze Triple Offset Lug Butterfly Valve Manufacturer in Africa
High-cycle seawater and marine utility systems can exceed the practical limits of resilient-seated butterfly valves. An Aluminium Bronze Triple Offset Lug Butterfly Valve uses three geometric offsets and a metal sealing arrangement so that the disc separates from the seat without continuous rubbing. The lugged body supports independent flange bolting, while aluminium bronze pressure parts provide corrosion resistance in seawater and brine. African Valve is a topmost Aluminium Bronze Triple Offset Lug Butterfly Valve Manufacturer in Africa, serving Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana and supplying projects throughout the Middle East, Europe and other international marine markets.
What Are the Three Offsets?
The first offset positions the shaft behind the disc sealing plane. The second moves the shaft away from the pipe centreline. Together, these offsets reduce contact between the disc and seat during most of the operating stroke.
The third offset changes the sealing surface into a conical geometry. Contact occurs mainly near the final closed position rather than through the complete rotation. This cam-like action reduces sliding friction and allows a metal seat to be used without the heavy rubbing associated with a concentric design.
Triple-offset construction is selected where temperature, pressure, cycling frequency or fire exposure makes a soft seat unsuitable. It should not be specified automatically for every seawater line because the design is more complex and requires accurate machining and actuator control.
Lugged Body and Dead-End Duty
Threaded lugs around the body allow each pipeline flange to be bolted separately. This simplifies removal of one pipe section and improves centring during installation.
Dead-end capability depends on body strength, seat direction and bolt loading. The valve may have a reduced rating when one flange is removed. The purchase specification should state whether dead-end service is required and from which pressure direction.
ASTM B148 C95800 or C95500 may be used for cast bodies and discs. Nickel-aluminium bronze is widely applied in seawater systems because of its corrosion, cavitation and erosion resistance. The laminated or solid metal seat may use aluminium bronze, Monel, nickel alloy or another compatible material according to pressure, temperature and leakage requirements. Shaft and bearing materials must also be checked for galvanic compatibility. The sealing surfaces require controlled geometry and finish. Small dimensional errors can change seat contact, torque and leakage. For this reason, machining and assembly inspection are especially important on triple-offset valves. Size Range: DN80 to DN1600 Triple-offset geometry limits seat rubbing. Metal sealing supports higher temperature and frequent cycling. Lugged ends provide independent flange fastening. Aluminium bronze pressure parts suit seawater and brine. Quarter-turn movement keeps operating time short. Fire-safe construction may be supplied when tested to the applicable standard. This valve is used in offshore firewater systems, seawater cooling headers, desalination plants, marine exhaust-supporting utility systems, shipbuilding and coastal process facilities. It is most valuable where soft-seat wear, frequent cycling or elevated temperature creates a genuine design concern. Actuator sizing must include seating torque, differential pressure, safety factor and operating speed. African Valve can supply gear, electric, pneumatic or hydraulic operation, together with position switches and project-specific controls. MTCs, PMI reports, NDT records, pressure-test certificates and torque documentation can be provided for EPC or marine inspection.Aluminium Bronze and Metal Seat Construction
