The diaphragm valve uses compressed air for actuation and is fast and accurate in operation as it does not require electric motors for operation. It allows control of process temperature, pressure, flow rate, and liquid level in an efficient manner with simplified piping configuration using a single valve instead of several manual valves. The valve consists of a three-port globe body, precision valve plug, seat assembly, stem, pneumatic diaphragm actuator, and positioner. A control signal from the automation system is converted into pneumatic pressure, causing the diaphragm actuator to move the valve stem vertically. The valve plug accurately regulates the flow between the three ports, either combining two inlet streams into one outlet or diverting one inlet stream between two outlets.
